Kool Kief
KOOL KIEF 1975 IRONHEAD CHOPPER
Choppers Magazine submission 9/18/20
Howdy,
As the subject states I am a single father of two boys, recently a divorcee looking for a good time. I was given this email to contact in the event I felt overwhelmingly lonely.
I wear my hair sometimes ragged sometimes right, and do like to indulge in an evening cocktail or two when the mood strikes me. I own a chopper that was assembled with my own two hands and a little help from my friends. It was built over the course of two years and finally put together on a cosmic night, not a moment to soon may I add; just in time for a little function they call Cheap Thrills here in jersey. I did not win but I was touched by a woman who gently grazed the small of my back with her soft hand in passing on the way to the bathroom to break the seal.
A few years later sadly I am selling it and it is off to Japan where they buy up all the unwanted choppers and I hope to see it in a fetish video or something of that nature, perhaps stumble upon youtube one day or even a feature in one of their rags.
It started as a 1975 basket case I bought off a man named Kevin, he was from New York, had a funny mustache and thoroughly enjoyed my victorian home. The cases were split, a 68 cam cover was line honed to match and fitted with an mm3 morris mag. (Old timer told me AMF castings are weak) Jugs and heads were dropped off at USA Cycle who fitted up some kibblewhite valves with seals for both exhaust and intake, (an argument I had lost as I was told they run better without seals from an old timer) Jugs were bored .030 over and sized up for some wiseco high dome pistons. Rods and flywheels were off to Truett and Osbourn for truing. S&S intake and carb polished by Angie, a true labor of love
The original frame was set aside in favor for a paughco with a straight backbone. Tins are an axed alien tank and a real deal wasell fender. Chopper goodies included electric franks generator, duff's power chalice, hex oil tank, wag fab t bars, blown glass led tailight, pioneer spot lamp, a swap meet mirror for checking my hair, trident sissy bar, and a beautiful set of upsweeps made in house.
The front end is a 6 over 35mm with internal for stops and shaved lowers. The bike sits on 19" wheels front and back, speed master up front and a duro rear. Paint is 1973 Porsche Leaf Green and painted by one of Jerseys finest, BUDDY.
I decided to assemble in the basement of my home due to the weather which was both a blessing and a curse. I got a little "intense" with two of my close buds upon wheeling it out of 7 step steep walk down. Basically having to man handle the bike to get out and not drag anything along the enclosing cinder block walls. Nobody was hurt but slightly emasculated.
Heat cycles, Sportster knee, intimidating kick backs, and swapping jets gave me a new found respect and love for this quick little ripper. It's been on some journeys and always got me home flawlessly or with a little finesse. May they treat you well in your new home.
